Interventions for Chronic Conditions
Hello, I'm Jennifer, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional, with a focus on chronic pain and illness, complex trauma, complicated grief, and end-of-life concerns. I came to this work after twenty years as an arts educator and creative coach. The language of art is very similar to the language of therapy. Both elicit strong emotions, foster meaningful conversation, and inspire change.
Sometimes, the stories we hold onto can keep us stuck in limiting beliefs and prevent us from expanding into the fullness of life. Through consistent support and reconnecting with the body, these stories can and do change. This concept was an integral part of my own journey with chronic pain and illness, as I processed loss and grief. Over time, I learned what it meant to live with fullness, in cooperation with my physical and emotional body. Most importantly, I learned that I am not one single story but a series of ever-changing narratives that are all worthy of attention and investigation.
A teacher at heart, it is my goal to guide you through reconnecting with your inherent ability to heal while sharing practical information about how to partner with the nervous system for greater physical and emotional health. Through a polyvagal lens, I have developed an approach to therapy that restores life balance, rests overworked nervous systems, and generates strategies for moving forward with intention and self-empowerment.
I am also a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP) working with therapists, first responders, and other helpers of the world as they navigate compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout.
Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, it is an honor to collaborate with you, as you examine where you are in your story and where you want to go next.
