Therapeutic Support for Ketamine Treatment

client and therapist in integration session
Psychotherapy alongside ketamine often results in...
  greater insight
  deeper healing
  enduring relief
When combined with psychotherapy, ketamine treatment is more than just a chemical intervention,
it is a catalyst for meaningful, lasting change.
We help clients make use of personal insights, symbolic images and metaphors, interpretations, and a variety of emotions that may arise during medicine sessions and integrate the experience into day-to-day life, in both meaningful and practical ways, for greater impact.

Together, ketamine and psychotherapy support long-term emotional health by challenging limiting beliefs, integrating new perspectives, processing trauma or other unresolved experiences, and gaining tools needed for enduring nervous system regulation and, ultimately, a more peaceful, connected, and satisfying life.

Ketamine is a powerful medicine.  However, when administered without proper therapeutic support, patients commonly face three distinct problems -

1. The relief is often temporary
Much like other medicines that help as long as you are taking them, because they are intended for managing symptoms rather than curing them, the chemical effects of ketamine are not permanent, and therefore booster sessions are often needed, indefinitely.

2.  Meaningful information and insights are lost after the session, due to the effect of ketamine on memory.  It's not uncommon for clients to say, "It was profound, but I don't remember anything."
A KAP therapist documents client's communication during treatment so that important memories, interpretations, and insights can be revisited during integration sessions for more impact on day-to-day life.

3. The experience can sometimes be unpleasant, and some people even report feeling terrified during treatments due to the intensity of the medicine's effects on the mind and body.
Having access to a therapist in a ketamine clinic is a bit like having access to a doula in a birthing hospital - we accompany our clients through an intense, sometimes difficult, but ultimately beautiful experience, while offering supportive interventions that reduce fear and increase psychological comfort.

Enlisting the help of a therapist with advanced training in ketamine and/or psychedelic assisted psychotherapy addresses each of these concerns so that you can get lasting results, in the context of a safe, more enjoyable experience.
