Psychotherapy

Hi, I'm Jessica, and I'm a seasoned Nurse Practitioner, now earning my post-master's certificate as a Psychiatric / Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at John's Hopkins University.  Upon completion of my certificate program, I'll be able to prescribe psychiatric medications, along with offering supportive psychotherapy.  I am not currently prescribing at Hazel House, but I hope to in the future!

Originally from New Haven, Connecticut, I have lived in Nashville for the past 13 years.  When I'm not working in the office, I'm working and playing on my flower farm, where I tend to the delicate needs of a variety of beautiful flowers.  Tending to flowers requires great attunement, and patience, which I strive to bring into the therapy room.

I've always been interested in being a therapist, and I remember it being my first career goal as a child.  It was a winding path, but I am happy to now be in a position where I can support people on their mental health journeys, both by offering supportive, solution-focused counseling and (eventually) by prescribing psychiatric medications.  Offering both services under one roof will allow me to really get to know my patients, understand their goals and obstacles, and help them find the solutions that are right for them.

I've been in the nursing field since 2009, first as Registered Nurse (RN), then as a Nurse Practitioner (NP), where I spent several years supporting patients and their families in the dying process.  Working in palliative and hospice care, I was present for many big feelings, most notably those that accompany grief.  Being with people during such a vulnerable and precious time taught me a lot about the role of counselors and prepared me for this leg of my professional journey.

I am a student intern working towards my PMHNP at Johns Hopkins University, pending graduation in August of 2025.  I am currently being supervised by Johns Hopkins faculty and Dr. Lindsay Vaughn, Psy.D., HSP, CSP.
