Hi! I’m Iris. I have always been drawn to stories. I love music, documentaries, poetry, books - you name it! Throughout my life, this interest has guided me toward the field of mental health. Being curious, observing, and listening deeply continues to help me experience my own healing, and I am dedicated to sharing this spirit of inquiry with others. Everyone has a story, and it’s fair to say that every author may need help sometimes to get through a tough chapter, make meaning of the plot, or make edits as they go, so that the sections flow together in a more cohesive fashion.
We all deserve a safe, authentic space to be heard, and to develop an integrated version of our story; one that brings us more peace, restores our sense of self-worth, and releases past hurts. I have learned that the vulnerability it takes to share our stories in therapy helps to un-shackle ourselves from the shame that’s kept them inside. This emotional liberation is the first step toward reigniting your intuition and confidence.
I use an integrative approach to therapy that can be best described as a blend of attachment, somatic, experiential, cognitive and mindfulness-based modalities. My therapeutic style is nurturing, honest, and open-minded. I believe that most of our “symptoms” are protective parts of an inner system that have had to take on specific roles to assist us in coping with, and surviving in, neglectful or harmful environments. The parts may show up as different characters in our story, potentially wreaking havoc on our relationships, self esteem, or physical body. I will help you get to know these parts, and work towards building a more compassionate relationship to them, so that you can begin to heal wounds and feel a greater sense of inner and outer connectedness - all in a caring and non-judgmental space.
I enjoy working with adults of all ages and backgrounds. I am particularly passionate about working with folks who are trying to break problematic relationship cycles, are healing from any form of abuse, or have experienced complex or developmental trauma. I also love working with individuals navigating mood disturbance, grief, and life transitions. I value what each individual brings into the therapy space, therefore your process will be tailored to your specific strengths, needs, and goals. Should you become my client, I will be a guide as you work to understand with more clarity, where you have been, where you want to go, and what is getting in the way. I bring my genuine self into the room, and hope that my humanness promotes a relationship that fosters your growth.
Beginning therapy for the first time, or returning to therapy? I know this can feel daunting. I enjoy breaking down the stigma of receiving mental health support, and I dedicate myself to creating a positive first experience for those who have never been in therapy before. I will work with your level of readiness as we build a relationship over time. I am excited to go on this journey with you!
